Brands’ sustainability program

Discover how sustainability guides the actions of our brand partners and how these efforts are reflected in our outlet village stores.

Balmuir

Sustainability plays an important role in Balmuir’s strategy, vision, and values. Balmuir selects materials for its products based on quality and the intended use of the item, favoring, for example, soft, pure cashmere and long-fiber cotton. High-quality materials are especially recognized by how they feel on the skin: premium silk drapes beautifully, cools in warm weather, and provides warmth in cooler temperatures, while long-fiber cotton feels dense and smooth.

Norrøna

Norrøna offers a lifetime repair service for its products, where items in need of repair are sent to Norrøna's in-house repair specialists. In addition, Norrøna carries out minor repairs—such as fixing zippers or buttons—on a case-by-case basis. The company is also happy to advise customers on proper care and washing of their products (especially Gore-Tex items), as it’s well known that correct maintenance and regular cleaning extend the lifespan of garments, making them a more sustainable choice.

Moreover, Norrøna does not produce items specifically for outlet sales; all outlet products are genuinely discontinued colors or models. As a result, all products come with a minimum five-year warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

Helly Hansen

Helly Hansen provides customers with tailored guidance on how to properly wash and reproof their selected products, along with written care instructions for different materials. This helps to further extend the lifespan of the items. Their product range also includes detergents and reproofing agents specifically designed for various materials.

In addition, the store’s selection features sailing apparel and footwear made from Ocean Bound materials, as well as highly waterproof and breathable hiking jackets that utilize chemical-free LIFA INFINITY™ technology.

Nanso

Nanso designs timeless and durable products, selecting more sustainable materials for their items. The company promotes a circular economy, extends the lifespan of its products, and encourages garment care. Nanso offers the Uusi Elämä collection, which gives well-maintained clothes a new life through restoration. The purpose of this collection is to slow down the rapid cycle of fashion and promote the principles of circular economy.

Reima

Reima manufactures durable products that bring joy to many children. Quality, safety, and sustainability have always been at the heart of Reima’s production. The company uses materials such as certified organic cotton, recycled fibers, and other environmentally friendlier materials. In recent years, Reima has significantly increased the use of more sustainable materials in its products. In 2020, 23% of Reima brand clothing and accessories were made from more sustainable materials, and by 2024, that percentage has risen to 93%.

Reima also offers product care and repair supplies in its range. In addition, you can easily recycle old Reima items for resale in Reima’s Second Hand online store.

Joutsen

Joutsen offers washing, maintenance, and repair services for its products. Customers can bring their Joutsen items to a store, where the products will be sent for cleaning, maintenance, or repairs.

The store also offers fabric patches for customers to repair items themselves, such as fixing a hole in a jacket. Joutsen accepts its own products for recycling in-store, and customers receive a 25% discount coupon for full-priced items in return. The company strives to repair recycled jackets for resale in their Second Life collection, but if that’s not possible, all usable parts—such as zippers and down feathers—are repurposed.

Makia

Makia creates clothing that stands the test of time, both in terms of quality and trends. Currently, 81% of Makia’s production uses environmentally friendly materials. The company also focuses on educating customers about proper garment care to ensure longer lifespans and reduced environmental impact. Makia supports the protection of the Baltic Sea and Finland’s inland lakes through close collaboration with the Pidä Saaristo Siistinä ry (Keep the Archipelago Clean Association) and the John Nurminen Foundation, contributing donations and engaging in educational marketing partnerships.

ECCO

ECCO continuously develops its shoe design and manufacturing practices to ensure that shoes last for years. Thanks to ECCO FLUIDFORM™ and ECCO TRAYTECH™ technologies, ECCO shoes are naturally durable and timelessly stylish—perfectly aligned with the Slow Fashion ideology. The ECCO DriTan™ method makes leather production more water-efficient and helps minimize waste in the manufacturing process.

To ensure the long-lasting quality of its shoes, ECCO offers products and sets for cleaning, conditioning, and protecting leather. With the help of expert advice from ECCO store staff, you can keep your shoes looking great, feeling fresh, and lasting longer.

Name It

BESTSELLER promotes the development of certified fibers and materials on a market scale through innovation and industry collaboration. The company uses a minimum of 50% organic cotton, 50% recycled cotton, 50% organic wool, 50% organic linen, and 50% recycled polyester in its products.

Name It’s high-quality products are designed to be durable, enabling customers to reuse items. The Name It outlet store offers products with minor defects (which do not affect the functionality of the item) at a greater discount. The store also provides customers with care instructions, sizing details, and other product features that help extend the lifespan of the items. Choosing the right size is also crucial, as it ensures the product will last longer on the child, preventing unnecessary purchases of new items.

Marimekko

At Marimekko, sustainability is an integral part of everyday work and the development of operations. The goal is to create high-quality products that stand the test of time and adhere to the principles of a circular economy. To ensure timelessness, Marimekko's designers take into account the quality and environmental impact of materials, as well as the care and recyclability of the products.

Tempur

The quality, health benefits, and long lifespan of TEMPUR products make them highly environmentally sustainable. TEMPUR® was one of the first mattress and pillow brands to receive the OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN certification for its products. This ensures that the products are made from materials that are rigorously tested for harmful substances, produced in environmentally friendly facilities, and manufactured under socially responsible conditions. When TEMPUR mattresses reach the end of their lifespan, the core material can be cleaned and shredded for use in new products, such as underlays or insulation panels. TEMPUR is also continuously seeking ways to reuse and recycle its unique material.

Change Lingerie

At Change Lingerie, it is important that no manufactured product goes to waste – even older models get a new chance in the outlet store at a lower price. This way, Change Lingerie reduces textile waste and supports more sustainable consumption.

Peak Performance

Peak Performance offers spare parts and repair services for its products according to its pricing list. In the outlet store, the brand gives high-quality products a second chance to reach consumers, ensuring that every product finds its way into actual use.

Luhta Outlet

The Luhta ReUse program gives used clothing a new life and helps return them to circulation.

By bringing your unwanted garments to a Luhta store, you help reduce textile waste and lower the carbon footprint of clothing. Luhta will either resell your items as second-hand products in the ReUse online store or repurpose them into new textile fibers.

Home & Cook

To mitigate the depletion of planet’s resources, the Group is increasingly integrating recycled materials into its products through collaborative efforts among the purchasing, product développement and manufacturing teams.
