I am Auli-Maritta Ruuskanen, an artist from Kokkola, whose freelance career has been rich and diverse. Different art forms have, in harmonious balance, guided me for decades. My visual world is born through inspiration, drawn from both nature and people — the humanity present in all existence. From this starting point emerge the images of my mind, images that wish to be encountered.

As an artist who follows my own path, I have also felt a strong desire to find my own recognizable artistic signature. Through experimentation, this led to the creation of a material whose shaping gives my works a distinctive relief-like surface structure. I have held numerous solo and group exhibitions across Finland, and to some extent also abroad. In addition, commissioned works bring inspiring challenges to my practice in my home studio.
